The North Star Immigration Toolbox is a resource, not legal advice.
The Toolbox provides information and document outputs designed to support your work — whether you are another lawyer, an HR professional, an in-house legal team, or someone doing personal research. It is not a replacement for advice from a qualified Canadian immigration lawyer.
By using the Toolbox, you understand and agree that:
- No legal advice. Information and outputs are general resources. They are not legal advice and they are not tailored to your specific facts or circumstances.
- No lawyer-client relationship. Using the Toolbox does not make North Star Immigration Law Inc. or any of its lawyers your lawyer. A lawyer-client (solicitor-client) relationship is only formed once we have a signed retainer agreement.
- Human review is essential. Every output should be reviewed by a qualified immigration lawyer (or, for HR-focused uses, by a qualified professional with appropriate expertise) before you act on it or submit it to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), Service Canada, or any other authority.
- AI has limits. Some tools use artificial intelligence. AI can be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. It can miss nuance, mischaracterize facts, or apply the wrong rule. Confirm everything before using or relying on it.
- Immigration law changes. Programs, eligibility criteria, NOC codes, wage thresholds, and policy guidance change frequently and sometimes without notice. We work to keep the Toolbox current, but we cannot guarantee that any output reflects the most recent rules at the moment you use it.
- Canada-only scope. The Toolbox is designed for Canadian immigration matters. It is not suitable for immigration to other countries.
- Your decisions are your responsibility. Any decision you make based on a Toolbox output — including any document you submit to a government authority — is your responsibility (or, where applicable, the responsibility of the lawyer of record on the file).
